About Will Wilkens
My passion for weather has been part of my life since childhood, tracking storms and collecting various rain and temperature data with simple means of instrumentation and recording them in notebook journals. Every aspect of weather including watching lightning from storms looming over the nearby mountains and desert fascinated me. I began storm chasing as soon as I was old enough to sit behind the wheel of a car, and now has spanned for over "twenty-some" years. The summer monsoon season is my primary interest, spending nearly every available free time during monsoon events chasing storms across the mountains and deserts of SoCal and Arizona. I am completely obsessed with thunderstorms, and will pull all-nighters watching, photographing, and videographing lightning.
After spending nearly all my storm chasing life privately, I emerged into the open "playing field" in 2008 and enhanced my storm chasing experiences by streaming live video for viewers on the internet through various streaming services, including live streaming coverage of the Freeway Complex wildfire for KABC-TV News in Los Angeles. In 2009 I became an associate storm chaser for Severe Studios, providing live chase streams, including tornado video and a live phone interview for KSN-TV in Wichita, KS. I continue to stream through Severe Studios providing year-round coverage of significant weather throughout the Southwest , and severe weather in the Great Plains during Spring.
My love for weather and nature photography translates into enjoying just about all aspects of the outdoors, spending the rest of my non-weather
free time hiking, camping, and fishing. I currently live in the Inland Empire region of Southern California, and I am employed as a manager in the Information Technology
field.
